Rezoning Signs

On November 14, 2006, in Announcements, Community News, Rezoning, by Bret & Jenny

Representatives from our rezoning committee recently visited the county office in response to the “6.3 acres rezoning signs”. A local area resident obtained a copy of the plot and attended an initial meeting at the church & met representatives of the developer & construction company. There were residents from along Hammet Dr there as well. The rezoning proposes to change the zoning from R12 (single family) to ZD (planned development). This developer’s plan to build 20 up-scale single family homes. They would be Charleston Battery Style and would range from $350,000 to $400,000 in price. The target completion date is late Spring 2007. There is a Zoning hearing at County Council set for Monday, November 20 at 6:30PM. A representative from the Silverleaf board are planning to attend.

A local area resident pointed out that the plan calls for a cul-de-sac type community with a single entrance off of Old Spartanburg Rd. Apparantly, County Council does not like cul-de-sac type communities & may force the developer to add a second entrance into Hammett Rd. The Silverleaf board plans to contact Tony Trout (our county councilman) to get his take on the proposal and we will post more information then. He will also try to find out if this community will affect the already over capacity sewer pump station located in our neighborhood off of Crosswinds Way.
